#1. On-Site Wastewater Certification Training Program:
Grades #1 – 4 Municipal or Industrial
Concentrates on preparing the student to take a Massachusetts Wastewater Certification Exam. Provides a basic overview of the concepts of Preliminary, Primary, Secondary and Disinfection Treatment processes, the function of related equipment and support systems and the Environmental responsibilities required to safely and properly operate, maintain and manage a Wastewater Treatment Facility within compliance. Environmental responsibilities, math, and safety will also be emphasized.
This 30 hour course is usually broken down into
1. 10 - 3 hour classes or modules held once per week, or
2. 6 - 5 hour classes or modules held once per week.

Aimed at Operators working in the field with a Grade 1 or 2 Municipal or Industrial license who need to advance to a Grade 3 or 4 License. This course is offered as...

#4. On-Site Basic Industrial Wastewater Training Program
Provides a basic overview of the concepts of physical and chemical treatment, the function of related equipment and support systems and the environmental responsibilities required to safely and properly operate, maintain and manage a Wastewater Treatment Facility within compliance. This 2-Day, 10 hour is rated at a maximum of 10 TCH’s with 100% attendance.
#5. BASIC MATH: Volumes, Conversions & Flow
(1 day, 3 hrs, 3 TCH's)
OBJECTIVE: A Review of "Basic Math"... to provide the Wastewater Operator with a basic understanding of fundamental mathematics and the concepts of area, volume, velocity, and flow. Outline: Flow Measurement, Basic Flow Measurement, Open Channel Flow systems, % Efficiency, volumes, capacities, detention time, clarifier performance, etc. And a review the proper units and conversion factors required to perform these various calculations
#5. MATH; Process and Dosage Calculations
(1 day, 3 hours, 3 TCH's)
OBJECTIVE: To be able to perform the various calculations required to efficiently operate your plant it's necessary to use "process" calculations... Density, Specific Gravity, Percent Concentration, Dosage Calculations, Dilution, Batching and Mixing Different Solutions
#6. REGULATIONS and Environmental Responsibilities...
(1 day, 3 hours, 3 TCH's)
OBJECTIVE: an overview of the State and Federal Regulatory Agencies, and their Regulations governing the proper operation of Industrial Wastewater Treatment Facilities.. Outline: NPDES Permit Program, National Pretreatment Program, Priority Toxic Pollutants, EPA Monitoring Requirements, Pretreatment Standards for Existing Industrial categories, and New Sources for Metal Finishing (Category) Industry... Including the Rhode Island Regulations: CHAPTER 42-17.4 and the Massachusetts Regulations: CMR-257 and CMR-314
#7. Physical/Chemical Treatment and Neutralization
(1 day, 3 hours, 3 TCH's)
OBJECTIVE: to understand the basic principles of physical/chemical treatment methods... "Chemical Coagulation HELPS Flocculation and SPEEDS Clarification", Jar Tests, pH vs. Solubility (Precipitation of Metal Salts), Coagulation Chemicals, Process Mechanics, Neutralization, Buffers, Alkalinity, Acidity, Process water pH adjustment, BASES, ACIDS, Titration curves... And... Safety, bulk chemical deliveries, etc...
#8. Basic Laboratory - for Wastewater Operators only !
(1 day, 3 hours, 3 TCH's)
Provides the Wastewater Operator with a "translation" of the quantitative analytical concepts of an NPDES/POTW laboratory... Including; Math, calculations, composite sampling, pH, BOD, TSS, TS, MLSS/MLVSS, % Solids, gravimetric analysis, etc...
